  23. This program requires Microsoft Windows, Windows 95, or Windows NT. 
  24.  
  25.      Video Requirements:  256 colors or better
  26.      CPU Requirements:    80386 or better

  28. The CD-ROM discs contain two versions of the program: a 16 bit
  29. version and a 32 bit version.  The 16 bit version requires
  30. Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher.  The 32 bit version requires
  31. Windows 95 or higher, or Windows NT 4.0 or higher.

  33. Memory Requirements:  The memory requirements depend on which
  34. version you are using.
  35.  
  36.      The 16 bit version for Windows 3.1 requires at least 4 Mb
  37.      of memory, with 8Mb recommended.  
  38.  
  39.      The 32 bit version for Windows 95 requires at least 8 Mb
  40.      of memory, with 16 Mb recommended.

  42. This program will work with most common video display
  43. resolutions, including 640x480, 800x600, and 1024x768, with video
  44. drivers set to either Large or Small Fonts (sometimes called
  45. Large or Small System Resources).

  51. This program has been tested with Microsoft Windows 3.1 and 3.11,
  52. Windows for Workgroups 3.1 and 3.11, Windows 95 and Windows 95
  53. with Service Pack 1, and Windows NT 4.0.  This program has been
  54. tested in the following video resolutions:

  57.      800x600 and 
  58.      1024x768 with the following color depths:

  61.       32,768 colors (15 bit, HighColor)

  67. Upgrading From an Earlier Version:

  70. If you already have an earlier version installed on your computer,
  71. we highly recommend that you UNinstall the earlier version before
  72. installing this version.  To uninstall the earlier version(s),
  73. follow the directions below for your particular operating system:
  74.  
  75.     Windows 3.xx:
  76.         Double click on the "uninstall" icon.
  77.  
  78.     Windows 95:
  79.         Click on the "Start" button, select "Settings", then
  80.         "Control Panel".  Double click on the "Add/Remove Programs"
  81.         icon, then select what you want to uninstall (for instance,
  82.         "Personal Law Library, CD1 v1.00") and click the
  83.         "Add/Remove" button.
  84.  
  85. Finally, when you are ready to begin the installation, instead of
  86. entering just "SETUP" (as listed in the directions), you will be
  87. entering "SETUP UPDATE", which will also update the files on your
  88. hard drive that are used to record many of your answers to the
  89. various questions asked by the program.

  92. Program Functions:

  95. Entering data:
  96.  
  97. Enter your name and information the same way each time you use
  98. the program because Personal Law Library remembers the last items
  99. of information you enter under your name.  For example, if you 
  100. enter "Robert", and at a later time enter "Bob", the program will
  101. read this as two different people. 
  102.  
  103. The name you enter will be used throughout the program.  If your
  104. family members also use the program, each must enter his or her
  105. name when they start the program or by selecting the "File" menu,
  106. "Update User Information". 
  107.  
  108. If you don't answer a question, that field will be replaced with
  109. a blank line in the printed form.
  110.  
  111. Printing or Saving:
  112.  
  113. If you want to save a file and edit it in a word processing
  114. program, then click the save button.  Open your word processing
  115. program and select .RTF (Rich Text Format) files.  Your file will
  116. be stored in the "DOCUMENT" directory, beneath the the location 
  117. you selected when you installed the Personal Law Library.

  119. Help:
  120.  
  121. Each CD-ROM in the Personal Law Library offers a comprehensive
  122. glossary of legal terms, written in understandable language.  To
  123. access this glossary, select the Glossary of Legal Terms from the
  124. Help menu.  Select the term you want from the list.

  126. Laws, Statutes, and Rules
  127.  
  128. The Help menu offers a selection of laws and rules governing
  129. topics from family and medicine to employment rights.  To read or
  130. print these documents, select Laws Statutes and Rules from the
  131. Help menu.  Select the law you want to display from the list.

  133. Helpful Organizations:
  134.  
  135. The Help menu contains lists of organizations that offer
  136. information, assistance, and services on the topics included in
  137. Personal Law Library.  If you need more information or other help
  138. regarding a specific topic, contact one of the organizations
  139. listed or consult your local telephone directory.
